At Alton Runners we are keen to welcome and encourage runners of all abilities.
We compete in regional road events such as the Hampshire Road Race League and cross country events such as the Southern Cross Country League. Many of our members, however, do not compete but enjoy running for fitness, for pleasure, to see more of our superb local countryside (and our superb local pubs . . ).
We also organise two local annual events: The Alton TEN, a 10 mile road race, one of the HRRL league events, held in May each year, and the multi-terrain Downland Challenge, a 5K and 10K event held every October. We are supporters of local charities in conjunction with the Alton Lions who distribute the profits from these two annual events to good causes.
Our regular training sessions are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6.45pm for a 7pm start. We meet during the summer months at Jubilee Playing Fields (sports centre end) and during the winter months we meet in the sports centre. We also arrange many Sunday morning runs especially in the summer months.
Tempted? New members are very welcome – just come along and try out a few of our training sessions or come along to one of our Rookie Runners beginners courses.
